(Archives of similar claim can be found here and here.) We also received a query about this on our WhatsApp tipline number.

Is the claim true?: No, the claim is false. This incident is from Thailand and dates back to 2022.

What we found: At first, we ran a relevant keyword search and found a post on a page named "our_rohini and rohini_walee" from 8 July.

  • The post read, " A video is going viral on the internet with the claim that a dog suddenly attacks a child in Rohini, Delhi. Our team found that it is not from Rohini but from South Pattaya. This incident is from 20 June 2024." (sic.)

  • We, then, ran another keyword search and came across a YouTube video on AMARINTV from 22 June 2022. It included a similar frame as the viral video.

Here is the preview of the video.

  • As per several reports, a CCTV clip went viral showing a 4-year-old boy of a foreign labourer being mauled by a dog in a neighbourhood in Pattaya, Thailand.

  • The dog ran away when its owner opened the door to take out the garbage. The family that released the video explained that it served as a caution, and the issue has now been settled between the child's dad and the pet owner.

  • Additionally, we did not find any recent reports of a dog bite incident in Rohini.

Conclusion: An old video from 2022 from Thailand has gone viral as child mauled by dog in Rohini
