Rs 12,000 Reward for Applicants of PM Awas Yojana? It’s Fake News!
The website making the claim is fake, and it itself clarifies that it is not linked to the government in any way.
CLAIM
A viral message is claiming that the applicants of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will be given an amount of Rs 12,000 for free. The message further claims that the last date to apply for the scheme is 5 September 2018.
VERDICT: TRUE OR FAKE?
The message is fake.
When you click on the ‘About us’ section of the website, the message clearly reads that the website is not linked to the government in any way. Secondly, the note under the ‘Privacy policy’ section clarifies that the website doesn’t promise to pay any money to any person.
The message comes along with the URL - http://pm.yojna-of-govt.in/ - while the official website of the government of India is the National Portal of India (india.gov.in).
Clicking on the link redirects the user to a page that asks for personal details of the users.
BACKGROUND
This message is another one of the hoax messages which has been spread through social media about government schemes. Earlier, ahead of independence day, a similar message was circulated which claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was giving out Rs 10,000 to girls under Sukanya Yojana.
