A video of journalist Rajat Sharma and actor Amitabh Bachchan talking on live television about the remedies of joint pain is being shared on the internet as a recent one.

What does the claim say?: The post carried text that mentioned how one can control joint pain without using pain killers or putting any other efforts.

What's the truth?: The video carried several consistencies and is actually a deepfake. The original clip could be traced back to April 2014, and showed Bachchan talking about his film Bhoothnath Returns with Sharma.

How did we find that out?: We noticed several inconsistencies in the viral clip, such as the formatting and the lip movement not matching the words that can be heard.

  • Taking this forward, we performed a keyword search on YouTube using the words "aaj ki baat amitabh bachchan".

  • We came across the full version of the interview of Bachchan with Sharma, where we found both the figures dressed in the same attire as seen in the viral video.

  • The video was shared on 12 April 2014 on the official YouTube channel of India TV. It was titled, "Aaj Ki Baat 11/4/14."

  • It showed Bachchan talking about his film Bhoothnath Returns.

Comparing visuals: Team WebQoof compared keyframes from the viral video to the visuals available on the YouTube one and found that the former has been edited to make the viral claim.
