An image showing an aeroplane emitting massive smoke clouds with first responders on the ground is being shared as visuals from the Air India crash that happened in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The Air India Flight 171, Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 people, crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad airport and was headed to London, United Kingdom, on 12 June.
What we found: At first, we noticed some abnormalities in the image such as the incorrect spelling of Air India on the aeroplane. The name at the back of the uniforms of the first responders was also illegible.
Additionally, the background of the image looks quite smooth.

We, then, ran the image on AI-detection websites such as Hive Moderation and Sightengine. Both platforms declared the image as 'likely AI." Swipe right to see the report.
Hive Moderation have a 99.9% charge that the image was made with AI
Sightengine gave 98% score.
About the crash: On 12 June, an Air India flight to London crashed in Ahmedabad shortly after taking off.
Only one person has appeared to survive the crash. Additionally, former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani was onboard and died in the tragedy.
Currently, several bodies have been identified. However, doctors are matching DNA of the bodies to help identify the victims.
Conclusion: An AI-generated image has gone viral to falsely claim that it shows real visuals of the Air India plane crash.
