A video of an old woman dancing to a Bollywood song is being shared on social media platforms to claim that it shows veteran actor Vyjayanthimala recently performing at the age of 98.

What are users saying?: The clip was uploaded with a caption that said, "Vaijayanti Mala, Famous Hindi Actress, aged 98 years now. See the zeal and happiness of living even today at this dying/ fading age!."

What are the facts?: The claim is false. The video could be traced back to December 2022 and the woman in it is being misidentified as actor Vyjayanthimala.

How did we find that out?: Using the help of Google Lens to conduct a reverse image search, we found a news report published by NDTV that carried the same visuals.

• It mentioned that a video of a 93-year-old grandmother dancing to a popular song 'O Jaane Tamanna Kidhar Ja Rahi Ho' went viral on social media platforms.

• The report mentioned that the song originally featured actors Shammi Kapoor and Vyjayanthimala.

The report was published on 19 December 2022.

Recent interview of the actor: We found a recent interview of the actor on the official YouTube channel of DD News, where she shared about her journey.

• The video was posted on 13 May 2024 and its title said, "Padma Awardee Vyjayanthimala Bali shares her journey with DD News."

Vyjayanthimala had performed on her 90th birthday: The Quint had shared glimpses of the actor performing Bharatnatyam on her 90th birthday.

• It was shared on 30 August 2023 and its title said, "Vyjayanthimala Performs Bharatnatyam on Her 90th Birthday | Quint Neon."

Conclusion: While we could not independently verify the woman's identity, we can confirm that the video is old and does not show veteran actor Vyjayanthimala dancing.
