CLAIM

An image of Hindi news channel ABP’s prime time show ‘Masterstroke’, hosted by anchor Rubika Liyaquat, is being circulated on social media, which blames the Congress party for the Chandrayaan-2 setback.

Several social media users including Piyush Mishra, national spokesperson and media head of Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) and Preeti Chobey of the Samajwadi Party (SP) have shared the promo image.

TRUE OR FLASE?

The image which is being circulated is a photoshopped version of the promo. Rubika Liyaquat took to Twitter, dismissing the claims made by multiple users on social media.

WHAT WE FOUND OUT

Issuing a clarification on Twitter, Rubika said, “edited picture पर जब verified account फ़ौरन कूदने लगे तो समझ जाएँ दिमाग़ छुट्टी पर है” (When a verified account starts jumping on an edited picture, it means the brain is on holiday).

Rubika Liyaquat issued the clarification.

Further, on comparing the real ABP promo image with the photo shopped one, we found that the font style and size is different.

(Left to Right): Original image of the show ‘Masterstroke’ compared to the edited version.

Secondly, the edited version reads “Memerao”which implies it is a meme.

Also, the landing of Chandrayaan-2 was scheduled on 7 September. We checked the website of ABP news and the YouTube channel to verify if Masterstroke was aired over the weekend. However, we found no record of the show.
