Two minors, from different communities, were killed in Bihar’s West Champaran on 27 November in a suspected case of honour killing.

The bodies of the minor boy and minor girl were recovered from two different spots in Nautan block of West Champaran district, according to Superintendent of Police, Bettiah, Vinay Kumar. The girl's brother, Alauddin Ansari, and uncles, Gulsanovar and Amir Miyan, have been arrested in connection with the killings, Kumar was quoted as saying.

The case came to light after the boy’s family lodged a complaint with the police after spotting his body in the adjacent Balua village. The girl’s body was found buried about 3 km from her village

“Alauddin (the girl’s brother) was taken into custody for interrogation during which he confessed that he, along with his two uncles, had killed the boy and the girl,” police told reporters.

Three members of the minor girl’s family allegedly lured the boy to their village, where they thrashed him and forced him to drink pesticide in order to make his death look like a suicide, according to The Indian Express report.

“Our investigation shows that boy’s killing was planned,” Kundan Kumar Singh, in-charge, Nautan police station told The Indian Express, According to Singh, the girl was made to believe that no harm would be done to the boy. “Later, when the girl protested over the beating and killing of the boy, she was killed,” Singh added.
