“All Kashmiris are not terrorists.”
That was Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s uncharacteristic response to a particularly offensive troll on Twitter relating to the attack on the Amarnath yatris.
The tweet, which has now been deleted, read:
Rajnath Singh, in turn, responded:
Suchi Singh Kalra’s tweet specifically raised questions on his comment that the people of Kashmir had strongly condemned the terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims and that it showed the spirit of Kashmiriyat was very much alive.
Rajnath Singh had earlier condemned the attack on the Amarnath yatris, and said that it was “heartening to see the whole nation stand united against terrorism”.
MakeMyTrip, Kalra’s employer, later distanced itself from the tweet though a statement.
Kalra’s Twitter bio said she was "Editor of Make My Trip". She has also deleted her account now.
Meanwhile, Rajnath’s tweet decrying Kashmiris as terrorists, was met with trolls similar to the one he stood up against, ironically calling him a ‘communist’ among other things.
But many others praised the Home Ministry’s strong stand.
