Days after a Dalit MP from the BJP in Uttar Pradesh wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging discrimination within the state government, another Dalit MP has joined the bandwagon.

Ashok Dohre, an MP from Etawah, has now written a letter to PM Modi, seeking his intervention on the atrocities that Dalits in the state were allegedly facing in the wake of Bharat Bandh.

Times of India reported that the MP, in his letter, had alleged that the police was rounding up Dalits in the state, often dragging them out of their houses. Dohre also alleged that they were subjected to casteist comments, and demanded action against the police.

Apart from Dohre, Savitribhai Phule, another MP from the state’s Bahraich, held a rally in protest of the discrimination faced by the Dalits, five days ago.

Dohre and Phule’s protests come in light of Dalit MP Chhotelal’s letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi complaining against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other party leaders.

Chhotelal had alleged that he met Chief Minister Yogi twice, but was “scolded and forced to leave.”
