Tripura Fisheries Minister, CPI(M)’s Khagendra Jamatia, Dies

The death of Khagendra Jamatia, the CPI(M) candidate for Krishnapur, comes a day before the 2018 Tripura Assembly election results.

CPI(M) candidate for the Krishnapur constituency and the present Fisheries Minister in the government of Tripura, Khagendra Jamatia passed away in Delhi on 2 March. He was 64.

Jamatia was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi after his health took a turn for the worse in the last leg of the election campaign. He joined the CPI(M) in 1983 and has won the Krishnapur seat six times.

His mortal remains will be brought back to Tripura where he’ll be accorded state honours, reported The Hindu.
