Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Arpita Ghosh resigned from the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, 15 September.
Her resignation was accepted by Chairman of the House and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.
"Ms. Arpita Ghosh, an elected Member of the Council of States (Rajya Sabha), representing the State of West Bengal, resigned her seat in the Rajya Sabha and her resignation has been accepted by the Chairman, Rajya Sabha w.e.f. the 15th September, 2021," the Rajya Sabha Secretariat notification said, as quoted by news agency PTI.
"It is not that she will not have any role to play just because she is no longer a Rajya Sabha member. She is very much in the party and she will play other roles in the party," Roy was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
Ghosh, in a letter sent to the party's national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Tuesday, said that she wanted to continue her service to the party under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee.
Ghosh was among the six TMC MPs who were suspended for unruly conduct during a ruckus in the Rajya Sabha in the recently concluded monsoon session.
