Tapes of phone discussions between former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi’s MLA son Amit Jogi and current Chief Minister Raman Singh’s son-in-law Puneet Gupta reveal a possibility of bribery in the 2014 Assembly by-elections, according to a report by The Indian Express.

Victory in the by-poll would have confirmed Congress’ hold in the region. But a Congress leader was allegedly ready to compromise.

We have to go up to seven at least…he is expecting ten. We will bring him down, lekin ekdum se uska itna kam mat kar do ki phir wo bhaag hi jaaye (but don’t reduce his share to such an extent that he runs away).

The Jogis and Gupta denied any involvement in this issue.
