Battling an internal crisis, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is again at the receiving end of a sting operation in which he is heard using abusive language against dissident leaders Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, even threatening to form a new party.
In the recording, Kejriwal is in conversation with party volunteer Umesh Singh. Here are some explosive transcript:
Ye kya tamasha hai aapka ki saare milkar chalo? ….un saalon ne… unhone hame haraane mein koi kasar nahi chhodi Delhi chunaav ke andar… kisi aur party mein hote to unke peeche laat markar bhaga diya hota saalon ko… kameene log hain ek number ke!
–Arvind Kejriwal (as heard in the audio sting)
(What is this farce of all going together? …They left no stone unturned to get us defeated in the Delhi elections… had they been in any other party, they would have been kicked on their rears and booted out ! …These are rascals of the first order!)
At one point of the taped conversation, Kejriwal is also heard threatening to break away from AAP and float a new party with the help of the 67 elected Delhi MLAs.
Ab dekh lete hain kya karna hai, nahi to mein 67 MLAs lekar alag ho jaoonga, aap log chalaiye Aam Aadmi Party… mujhe kuch lena dena nahi hai.
–Arvind Kejriwal (as heard in the audio sting)
(Let’s see what’s to be done. If nothing else, I will walk away with 67 MLAs. You people can run AAP. I will have nothing to do with this.)
Meanwhile, the Kejriwal camp hit back claiming that “private” conversations of leaders were being “recorded” for the past nine months to “blackmail” the leadership.
This also reveals that they had been hatching the conspiracy against the party leadership for quite some time now.
–Deepak Bajpai, Spokesperson, AAP
Senior AAP leader Ashutosh conceded that the language was unfortunate, but he added that Kejriwal’s outburst was warranted.
The party’s National Executive of about 400 members will meet today to decide the future of Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav, who claim they are being forced out of AAP by Kejriwal for demanding more transparency and internal democracy. Both Yadav and Bhushan are expected to attend today’s conclave. It will be interesting to see how the sting impacts the outcome of this crucial meeting.
