Sonowal to Take Oath as Assam CM on 24 May, PM Modi to Attend

  • The swearing in ceremony of the new BJP-led government in Assam will take place on May 24 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP’s chief ministerial candidate Sarbananda Sonowal said on Friday.

  • He added that the oath-taking ceremony will be held at Khanapara field in Guwahati.

  • BJP won 60 of the 126 seats in the Assam assembly elections on Thursday. BJP is in alliance with Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodo Peoples Front who won 14 and 12 seats respectively. The result was historic because its for the first time that BJP is forming government in Assam.
