Sasikala Convicted in DA Case, Sentenced to 4 Years by SC

• The Supreme Court convicts AIADMK supremo VK Sasikala in the Disproportionate Assets (DA) case, derailing her attempt to gain power in Tamil Nadu.
• The apex court orders Sasikala to serve the remaining sentence of 4 years in jail and a fine of Rs 10 crore. Both the judges on the bench gave the concurring verdict on her conviction, and said that the charges stand proved.
• She stands disqualified for six years from contesting elections after the completion of her sentence.
