Ram Jethmalani Regrets Supporting Modi, Seeks Public Forgiveness

Ram Jethmalani hit out at Modi for the blackmoney claims and the subsequent appointment of Amit Shah.

Veteran lawyer Ram Jethmalani attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his promise of bringing back the black money stashed overseas. He sought public forgiveness for supporting the Modi camp in the 2014 general election. Speaking at an event in Delhi when he said:

I am making a confession that I helped them [BJP] to cheat you, I have come to seek your forgiveness.

Saying that his only expectation from Modi now is to fulfill the promises he had made, Jethmalani said:

The one promise he had made was that Rs 90 lakh crore of black money was concealed in foreign banks and that he will get back that money and give Rs 15 lakh to the family of every poor man and then he appoints a party president (Amit Shah) who made a statement that it was an election jumla (gimmick).

The lawyer is Bihar Grand Alliance’s nominee for upcoming Rajya Sabha polls to be held on 11 June.

Jethmalani has been nominated with a ticket from the Janata Dal (United) which is part of the alliance in Bihar which beat BJP in 2015 Assembly election.

Jethmalani was expelled from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for anti-party activities in May 2013 after being under suspension since November 2012. He was suspended in 2012 after he claimed that the then party president Nitin Gadkari was corrupt.
