Addressing the media’s queries on Congress party’s stance on Rahul Gandhi becoming the probable candidate for party president, Senior Congress Leader Mani Shankar Aiyar had a sarcastic reply.

According to ANI, Aiyar reportedly said:

I think only two people can be Congress President - mother or son. Rahul already said he is ready to contest election.

Further saying that at least two people are needed for an election to take place, he said:

To contest an election people are required, if there’s no one and there’s only one candidate how will you conduct election in first place?

Aiyar’s comment comes days after Congress Randeep Surjewala said that the party had decided to back Rahul as their president in the organisational polls which will end in a month’s time.
