Even as the BJP goes into damage control after Yogi Adityanath’s statements, Shiv Sena has condemned the statements.

Sena, which is the BJP’s ally in Maharashtra said, “Shah Rukh Khan should not be targeted for being a Muslim”.

On Wednesday Yogi Adityanath had sparked a row saying;

The likes of Shah Rukh Khan are free to go to Pakistan. We do not mind it at all. In any case, Shah Rukh Khan and Hafiz Saeed seem to share the same views.

He was referring to the alleged mastermind of 26/11 Mumbai attacks, Hafiz Saeed’s statement inviting Khan to move to Pakistan if he feels unsafe in India.

The BJP leadership has disowned the comments made by Adityanath and Kailash Vijayvargiya on Wednesday.

The party said that Adityanath’s statement does not reflect the views of the Prime Minister and that it was uncalled for.

Earlier in the day, BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya had retracted a controversial tweet that had also targeted Shah Rukh Khan. Vijayargiya had tweeted Shah Rukh Khan is living in India but his heart is in Pakistan.

On Monday, his 50th birthday, Shah Rukh Khan had said that there is “extreme intolerance” in the country following which Hafiz Saeed made his statement.
