Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s grand nephew Chandra Bose, nominated by the BJP as its candidate from the Bhowanipore assembly seat, launched his campaign on Thursday from the revolutionary leader’s house in South Kolkataa’s Elgin Road.

Chandra Bose is the new face of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal. But it is not his politics, rather the family DNA, which made the BJP pick the man, according to Livemint.

Let’s rewind to 23 January, the day when the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government declassified 100 files on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. It was on this day that Chandra Kumar Bose joined the BJP for the first time in a public meeting in Howrah.

Now, for the upcoming Assembly Polls, the party is looking to leverage the emotional connect that Subhash Chandra Bose draws among Bengalis and is pitting him against West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

On the day his candidature was announced, Bose had said that the Congress party obliterated the ideology and legacy of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised him that the BJP will help mainstreaming the ideology championed by “Netaji”.
