In response to Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi’s decision to shift the venue of his son’s wedding, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his son rebuffed concerns of any untoward incident at Utkarsh Modi’s wedding.

Earlier this week, a video of Lalu Prasad’s son, Tej Pratap, threatening to disrupt Utkarsh Modi’s wedding and beat up his father surfaced online.

While RJD party members chose not to condemn the remark, Lalu Prasad assured Modi that his son won't create a ruckus at the wedding, reported NDTV.

Tej Pratap had just made a hissing sound. And these people got so scared. They should go ahead with the wedding. Our best wishes are with them.

Tej Pratap, whose family has been invited to the wedding, also goaded the deputy CM to carry on with the event "without any worry or fear".

I am not a criminal or terrorist. Whatever I said at a public meeting should not have been taken literally by Modi. He should go ahead with the wedding without any worry or fear.

Earlier Tej Pratap had said, “I will beat him (Sushil Modi) up and set things on fire for possessing unexplained and illegal wealth,” said Tej Pratap.

According to a Times of India report, Modi said the venue ought to be changed as the bride's family is distant from politics and unaccustomed to such acts of violence.

Tej Pratap is frustrated and hence he is threatening to disturb my son’s wedding. It is very sad. Why is he bringing politics into this? I had respectfully attended weddings of Lalu ji’s children and I believe he must talk to his son about this.
Sushil Modi told ANI

Sushil Modi, whose party joined the Bihar government after Lalu’s exit, currently holds the post formerly held up Tej Pratap's brother, Tejashwi.

In the past, Modi has levelled allegations against the RJD supremo’s family of illegal possession of wealth. Condemning the threat, Sushil Modi on 22 November said Tej Pratap was trying to disturb his son's wedding out of frustration.

The Deputy CM's office issued a statement that all invitees have been informed about the change of venue. As per NDTV, Modi declared that “no dowry is taken for this marriage” reiterating that the move corresponds with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's campaign to abolish child marriage and dowry.
