Following the demise of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and chief of AIADMK J Jayalalithaa on 5 December 2016, the ruling party said on Sunday that 470 people have died due to severe ‘shock’, as reported by PTI. The party also announced a relief of Rs 3 lakhs each to be given to the families of the deceased.

While releasing a list of 190 such people, the party announced that the death toll due to ‘shock’ has now reached a total of 470.

It also released the details of four more people who allegedly attempted suicide after hearing of Amma’s death, taking the total number of such incidents to six. The party on Sunday announced Rs 50,000 for the medical treatment of all six as well.
