The Delhi High Court issued a notice to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Monday on a fresh defamation suit of Rs 10 crore against him filed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

In addition to a previous civil defamation case against Delhi’s CM Arvind Kejriwal, Union Finance and Defence Minister Arun Jaitley filed a defamation suit against the same party, with the amount placed at Rs 10 crore now.

Jaitley filed the case against Kejriwal after his lawyer Ram Jethmalani called him a ‘crook’ during a tense cross-examination. A tense verbal discussion then ensued between the lawyer and the politician.

In March 2016, Kejriwal along with five senior AAP, including Kumar Vishwas and Ashutosh leaders had notices framed against them by Jaitley.

The recording of Jaitley’s statement could not take place as the Minister objected to the use of the word ‘crook’ against him by the noted lawyer representing the Chief Minister, according to reports by PTI.
