Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa suffered a cardiac arrest late on Sunday night at Apollo hospital in Chennai. Since then, the state is on high alert and huge crowds have thronged the hospital.

Security personnel have been deployed to control the huge, grieving crowd. Here are a few pictures taken outside the hospital.
