ICJ Verdict on Kulbhushan Jadhav Case at 3:30 pm on Thursday
India had asked the ICJ to order Pakistan to stay the execution of Indian citizen Kulbhushan Jadhav.
The International Court of Justice will be delivering its verdict on the Kulbhushan Jadhav case on Thursday at 3:30 pm.
India had asked the World Court judges on Monday to order Pakistan to stay the execution of Indian citizen Kulbhushan Jadhav, who Islamabad says is a captured spy, in a case that has escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
India argued in a preliminary hearing at the UN court, formally known as the International Court of Justice (ICJ), that Pakistan violated the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations by denying the condemned man access to legal and other assistance from India.
Pakistan responded that the court should decline jurisdiction in the case.
If the verdict goes against Pakistan, then the country cannot go to a higher court. If they refuse to follow the order, then the case will be taken to the security council, where it will be debated by the 15 members of the council.
China, which is one of the members of the UN security council has veto powers and has often exercised it in favour of Pakistan.
