Ahead of Delhi Assembly elections, Election Commission has issued a notice to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, 7 February, over a video he uploaded on his Twitter account. Commission said that it was a violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), reported ANI.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal offered prayers at Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place and BJP Delhi Chief Manoj Tiwari offered prayers at Hanuman Temple in Kalkaji.

On Thursday, Election Commission issued a notice to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday, for his “Kejriwal is offering Biryani to Shaheen Bagh protesters” remark.

The campaigning for the Delhi elections ended at 6 pm on Thursday, 6 February, ahead of the voting on Saturday.

HC seeks EC, Centre's Stand on Plea by 11 Independent Candidates Against Nomination Rejection

The Delhi High Court on Monday sought responses of the Election Commission (EC) and the Centre on a plea by 11 Independent candidates challenging rejection of their nominations for the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls.

A bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice C Hari Shankar issued notices to the Centre and the EC seeking their stand on the candidates' plea, which also challenges a single judge order declining to entertain their petition against rejection of the nominations.

The division bench said it will hear the matter on 5 February. The returning officer (RO) had rejected their nominations on the last date for filing the same.

Union Minister and BJP leader Anurag Thakur hit out at AAP in the run up to the Delhi polls on Monday, saying that CM Kejriwal supports the 'tukde tukde' gang and the anti-CAA protests at Shaheen Bagh.

‘Clear What the Mood of Delhi Is’: PM Modi at Karkardooma Rally

Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off his rally at Delhi's Karkardooma on Monday, saying that mood of the national capital a week before the polls is clear.

"The vote of the people of Delhi (during Lok Sabha polls) had supported the change in the country. Now the vote of the people of Delhi will also change and modernise our Delhi. It will make it safe, make the lives of the people living here easier,” he said.

'AAP Govt Doesn't Want to Give Houses to Poor': PM Modi

During his rally at Karkardooma, PM Modi slammed the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government, blaming them for not implementing the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana.

"The government here does not want to give houses to the poor. Till they are in power, they'll keep stopping developmental work," he said.

'People of Delhi Still Waiting for Their Lokpal': PM Modi

Highlighting the various decisions taken by his government during its second term, Modi, during the Delhi rally, said, "Article 370 was abrogated after 70 years, Ramjanambhoomi verdict came after 70 years, Kartarpur Sahib corridor was made after 70 years, India-Bangladesh border issue was solved after 70 years, CAA came after 70 years, and the War Memorial and Police Memorial were made after 50-60 years."

He went on to attack the Kejriwal-led government, saying that the people of Delhi are still waiting for their lokpal. "There was such a big movement, such tall claims, what happened to them all?" he asked.

'Budget Will Give Direction For The Entire Decade': PM Modi

Two days after it was presented, Modi also hailed the Union Budget at the Delhi rally, saying it is "going to give direction not only for this year, but for this entire decade."

"The benefit of this Budget will be for the youth of Delhi, traders of Delhi, the middle class, poor and women," he said.

On the issue of tax harassment, he said:

“There was a complaint from traders of the country, including in Delhi, that they face pressure from tax authorities. So we started Indirect Tax Settlement Scheme last year. After this, there was demand that such a scheme be started for direct taxes. In this Budget, we fulfilled this.”

He also spoke about the new optional income tax regime, which was unveiled by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during her Budget speech.

“In this Budget, it has also been taken care that middle-class taxpayers have more money to save. The government has now given the option of new slabs of tax. These slabs are also simple and there is no pressure to invest in certain schemes only to save tax,” he said.

Anti-CAA Protests in Shaheen Bagh & Jamia No Coincidence, But An Experiment: PM

Towards the end of his rally in Delhi’s Karkardooma, PM Modi brought up the anti-CAA protests at Shaheen Bagh and Jamia Millia Islamia, alleging there's a "political design" behind them.

Accusing AAP and Congress of playing politics, he said, "These people (opposition parties) were doubting the ability of our forces during surgical strikes. Do citizens of Delhi want such people in power? These people are saving those who want to break India into pieces.”

The PM went on to label the protests in Seelampur, Shaheen Bagh Bagh and Jamia as not a coincidence but an experiment.

“If it (the protests) had been against one law, it would have ended after assurances of the government. But AAP and Congress are provoking people. Constitution and tricolour are being kept in front, and attention is being diverted from the real conspiracy.”

Education, Sanitation & Ration Among 28 Points in AAP Manifesto

Days after releasing ‘Kejriwal’s Guarantee Card’, the Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday, 4 February, released the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections. Highlighting 28 points including schemes for education, sanitation workers and doorstep delivery of ration, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also announced skill development for women and youth.

“If a sanitation worker dies during duty then his/her family will be given a financial assistance of Rs 1 crore,” Sisodia announced.

Declare CM Candidate for Delhi and Debate on Manifestos

Calling the manifesto a historic one for the poor and the common man, Delhi CM Kejriwal slammed the BJP and challenged the party to declare a CM face to have a debate on the respective manifestos.

“I would like to tell BJP that people of Delhi want the BJP to declare a Chief Ministerial candidate and I am ready to debate with that person,” he said.

“I give the BJP till 1 pm tomorrow to declare a CM candidate for Delhi. If they do, I will have a debate with him. If they don’t, I will meet you (the media) again for a press conference,” he added.

Senior police officer Rajendra Prasad Meena has been appointed the deputy commissioner of police (south-east) by the Election Commission, which has directed him to assume charge immediately.

'Delhi Wants a Govt That Comes Up With Solutions': PM Modi at Dwarka

Addressing a rally in Delhi's Dwarka on Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi hit out at the Aam Aadmi Party saying, "Delhi needs a government that will give direction and not resort to blame-game".

"Delhi wants a government that comes up with solutions, not one that creates obstacles," he went on to say.

Mounting a fierce attack on the Opposition, PM Modi said at the Dwarka rally that it has been "spreading lies and rumours about the Citizenship Amendment Act."

He went on to allege that AAP and Congress cry for 'Batla House terrorists', put the security forces in the dock and instigate people, but cannot develop Delhi.

'Central Govt is of Adani and Ambani': Rahul Gandhi at Jangpura Rally

At a rally in Jangpura, Rahul Gandhi dedicated a large part of his speech on the state of the economy. "The central government is of Adani and Ambani. The government is only for benefiting 15 people," he said.

EC Bars BJP MP Parvesh Verma from Campaigning for Delhi Polls

The Election Commission on Wednesday barred BJP MP Parvesh Verma from holding any public meetings, public processions, public rallies, roadshows and interviews for 24 hours over his statement against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on a news channel. Earlier too, he was banned for 96 hours.

"The Commission is of the considered view that Parvesh Sahib Singh made vitriolic aspersions against Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi which violate... the Model Code of Conduct..." NDTV quoted the election body as saying.

Verma had called Kejriwal a "terrorist", and justified it, telling NDTV in an interview, " If the Delhi CM calls the PM a desh drohi, he can be called a terrorist. If the Delhi CM stands with the protesters of Shaheen Bagh who are raising slogans of Pakistan zindabad, he can be called a terrorist. If the Delhi CM raises doubts over a surgical strike conducted by the country's army on enemy territory, he can be called a terrorist."

Slamming BJP and AAP at a rally in east Delhi's Kondli, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said the politics of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal revolved around hate, and their only strategy was to divide people.

Gandhi said it was the Congress's 15-year tenure (1998-2013) in the national capital that gave the city its modern infrastructure such as the metro service.

"The politics of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal revolves around hatred. The only funda (strategy) of Modi and Kejriwal is to divide people," he said, according to PTI.

Later, he addressed a rally along with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the Hauz Qazi locality, where the latter took a dig at the two rival parties over the condition of roads.

"Brothers amd sisters, I apologise for coming late, I got stuck in traffic. AAP and BJP did not build any new roads in the last five years, had I taken Sheila Dikshit ji's Metro, I would have reached in 10 minutes," she was quoted as saying.

Speaking to ANI after an election rally in Delhi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, "Unemployment rate in India is at a 45-year high but nothing was spoken about it in the Budget or the address by Narendra Modi and Nirmala Sitharaman. Each and every young person of the country is asking for jobs. This is the reality."

EC Issues Notice to BJP's Sambit Patra Over Model Code 'Violation'

The Election Commission has issued a notice to BJP leader Sambit Patra for prima facie violating Model Code of Conduct with his speech on a television channel.
