Decoding Pak PM Imran Khan’s Statement on Pulwama Attacks

Pakistan PM Khan on Tuesday, 19 February, said anybody using Pakistan to attack India, is their enemy as well.

Reacting to the Pulwama attack of 14 February for the first time, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday, 19 February, said anybody using Pakistan to attack India is their enemy as well.

He rejected any notion of Pakistan links to the attack in a live statement.

The statement comes nearly five days after the attack and once again Pakistan has taken a stance that it is in the interest of their country that nobody from their soil spreads violence.

Speaking about Pakistan Prime Minister’s statement, The Quint’s Editorial Director, Sanjay Pugalia holds the view that Imran Khan has given an old and cliched response saying that they themselves are the biggest victim of terrorism.

“The kind of government that we have right now, Imran Khan needs to understand that there won’t be a difference between what we practise and what we preach.”

“Imran Khan is making a mistake. You are reading out what ISI has written or you and if he is doing that then he is moving towards a dead end,” Pugalia added.

He further stresses upon the fact that the argument that Pakistan is the “victim of terrorism” and that “India needs to produce evidence for what has happened”, is no longer a convincing argument.
