At the end, it was 125 Ayes and 105 Nos. Rajya Sabha passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, this is the question everyone is asking. The contentious Bill — which offers citizenship to non-Muslim illegal immigrants from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh — has led to arguments about it being against India’s constitutional values, multi-day protests in Northeastern states, and a renewed discussion on the Partition.
