Cabinet Approves Formation and Functioning of GST Council

The Goods and Services Tax Council approved on Monday will primarily decide the GST rate.

• The Cabinet on Monday approved the formation, process and functioning of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council.
  
• The primary function of the GST Council will be to decide the GST rate along with many other things.
  
• Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will be heading the GST Council, which will comprise state finance ministers as well.
