BJP President Amit Shah reportedly lost his cool at a meeting with the party’s national office bearers when some of them voiced their criticisms regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision of demonetising Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.

Scroll.in quoted a BJP general secretary as saying:

Amit Shah lost his cool as the majority of national office-bearers of the party reported that the demonetisation had backfired. What in particular made him [Shah] very upset was the view of some of the participants that party might not have faced such a serious crisis had Modiji gone for wider consultations before taking the decision.

Another BJP office bearer said Amit Shah was left furious when someone said Modi had tarnished the image of the party with his decision.

“He shouted at us and directed us to make Modiji’s historic decision a success,” the BJP member added.

The report comes hours after party veteran LK Advani was seen fuming in Lok Sabha expressing his anger towards the Treasury benches for failing to ensure that a debate on demonetization is held in the Lok Sabha. He even went to saying that he was considering resigning from the Lok Sabha in the presence of Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Smriti Irani.

PM Modi reportedly spoke to Advani on phone after the senior leader’s outburst trying to convince him that it was not the BJP government but the Opposition that did not allow scope for a debate to take place.
