In a small salon in the heart of Bengaluru, our correspondent gets chatting with everyone around him about the upcoming Karnataka election. From the barber to the customers, everyone had their two cents on what the state needs. Listen in to the political chatter and election gyan – all over a haircut and a shave.

Welcome to New Balaji Men’s Parlour, Koramangala

It’s poll time, people!

The New Balaji Men’s Parlour in Koramangala is a typical neighbourhood salon, which houses six people at full capacity, plus that little sofa for maybe two to three people to wait in queue. Inside, we meet hairdresser Anuj Sharma, who runs the show at New Balaji, and very graciously allows us to sit down for our discussion.

He himself is very guarded about his political views, preferring that we speak to his customers instead. The only opinion he lets out is this: “They can talk about Bengaluru all they want, but nothing will change in this city”.

So, what are the issues Bengaluru’s voters will keep in mind before they cast their ballot? Here are the best quips heard at the barber’s.
