Right-wing Hindutva group Bajrang Dal held a celebratory bike rally in Jammu on Sunday, 18 August, to observe what they called the “Akhand Bharat Day”.

Mobile internet was disconnected in Jammu the same day, barely days after it was fully restored. While the administration blamed a mechanical glitch, NDTV reported that, according to local sources, mobile internet had been disconnected to keep the peace during a rally by right wing groups and to avert any violence.

The following is a video of the Bajrang Dal bike rally posted on YouTube by a local media organisation.

Following the announcement on 5 August regarding the abrogation of Article 370, the government had issued prohibitory orders against large gatherings and placed around 400 mainstream political leaders under arrest.
