With political parties going all-out to woo voters in UP, BSP chief Mayawati does not want to be left behind in the race. Along with campaigning in the midst of voters, BSP has also decided to make its presence felt on social media.

The BSP is leveraging social media to project Mayawati as someone who boost the law and order situation, education and employment opportunities.

  • BSP roped in Bollywood singers to croon campaign songs
  • ‘Behenji ko aane do’ slogan on social media along with tweets
  • Wooing voters through YouTube videos
  • BSP has never used social media so actively for campaigning
  • BSP wants to show that the party is pro-growth

Campaign Against a Poorly Run System

Through its social media push, the party is appealing to UP residents to vote for Behenji if they want change in the state.

Bollywood Pitches In

In addition to its social media drive, the party has recorded a campaign song as well. The song has been written by Manoj Muntashir and sung by Bollywood singer Kailash Kher. The song promises responsible governance from BSP, while also referring to the alleged chaos, looting and hooliganism prevailing under the current SP regime.

Finally Realised the Need of Social Media

One thing is amply clear though: BSP has realised the importance of a social media campaign along with appealing to voters on the ground level. Usually, Mayawati says that her voters are Dalits from poor backgrounds who do not follow the political debates on news channels. She also used to shy away from social media. But this time around, BSP has taken its poll battle to the social media sphere.
