As Vowed, Cong Worker Fills His Own Shoes After 15 Years
After a decade and a half, Kirar wore shoes in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath.
Congress worker Durgalal Kirar on Wednesday, 26 December, wore shoes after 15 years – fulfilling the vow he had taken when the party lost power in Madhya Pradesh – in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh.
Back in 2003, when his party received severe drubbing in the Assembly elections by winning only 38 of the 240 seats, Kirar vowed that he would not wear shoes until his party returned to power.
A Congress spokesperson told PTI that Kirar, resident of Limboda village of Rajgarh district, was a staunch supporter of Digvijaya Singh who was the state’s chief minister from 1993 to 2003.
The Congress returned to power in the state after the Assembly elections, ending BJP's 15-year reign.
