AAP Tells Protesting Officers to Not Obstruct Governance in Delhi
The boycott by the bureaucrats was announced after Delhi chief secretary alleged that he was assaulted by AAP MLAs.
The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday, 24 February, urged government officers who have been protesting against the alleged attack on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash by party MLAs, to not obstruct work as doing so would hit the governance in Delhi.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh said that officers should let of their "ego" and work for Delhi, reported The Indian Express.
The boycott by the bureaucrats was announced after Prakash alleged that he was assaulted on Monday night, 19 February, by some AAP MLAs at the Delhi chief minister's residence.
Around 200 officers resolved that no official would attend meetings called by the chief minister and his ministers till Kejriwal apologises for the incident.
Former bureaucrat Dhir Jhingran has resigned from the Delhi government's State Advisory Council For Education to express solidarity with Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash.
In response to Jhingran's resignation, Atishi Marlena, advisor to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, said, "It is unfortunate that he was taken in by a false version of events".
AAP rejected the charges of assault by its MLAs with party leader Ashutosh saying Prakash had not produced any evidence against the two arrested MLAs, Prakash Jarwal and Amanatullah Khan.
He said an attempt was being made to malign the party's image.
Several policemen went to Kejriwal's official residence in the Civil Lines where Chief Prakash was allegedly assaulted, to obtain CCTV footage from the night of the alleged assault.
