Old Man Tied to Hospital Bed Allegedly Over Non-Payment of Bills

The hospital has now been sealed by the authorities.

An 80-year-old man was tied to a hospital bed with rope in Madhya Pradesh's Shajapur allegedly over non-payment of the hospital bills.

In images shared by news agency ANI, the old man can be seen tied to the bed with rope on his leg and hand.

“We had deposited a bill of Rs 5,000 at the time of admission but when the treatment took a few more days, we did not have the money to pay the bill,” his daughter said.

Taking note of the incident, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan promised to take strict action against the hospital.

The District Collector sent a team to the hospital to investigate the matter.

“The registration of the nursing home has been cancelled and it has been sealed. A case has been lodged against manager. Their patients were taken to a district hospital,” the District Collector later told ANI.

The hospital, however, has claimed that the man was having convulsions and he was tied so that he could not hurt himself, NDTV reported.
