Heavy rain led to flight disruptions at the city’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on Monday, with more than 506 flights delayed and three cancelled. According to flightradar24, a Swedish internet-based service, while departing flights operated with a delay of around 46 minutes, arrival flights faced an average delay of six minutes.
A total of 153 arrival flights and 353 departure flights were delayed, while two arrival flights and one departure flight had to be cancelled.

A special court rejected the bail plea of a retired Delhi Police official, who was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for allegedly providing a weapon to an accused linked to a group attempting to revive Sikh militancy for a separate Khalistan.
The court on Monday rejected 62-year-old Sundarlal Parashar’s bail application. He was arrested on April 24, following which a charge sheet was filed against him on May 23.

The Mumbai crime branch on Monday arrested four people for allegedly kidnapping or buying babies and then selling them. Two boys, aged three months and two-and-a-half years respectively, were rescued, said police.
Two others were arrested for allegedly buying the infants.
“The gang sold newborns to childless couples or parents who wanted a boy. The gang was operating for more than three years and we are trying to find the number of children they kidnapped or bought and sold,” said Akbar Pathan, deputy commissioner of police (crime branch).

Maharashtra is set to intensify its crackdown on those violating the plastic ban. State Environment Minister Ramdas Kadam announced in the legislative Assembly on Monday that he had instructed officials to initiate action against plastic manufacturers violating the ban on single-use products.
While the ban has been in force since June 23, 2018, Kadam admitted that the enforcement of the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections had impacted its implementation. But he said that crack teams have resumed action against the use of banned plastic in crowded market places. “You will see the impact of this within the next eight days,” said Kadam, while replying to a query raised during the Question Hour.

The Bombay High Court on Monday reserved judgement on a bunch of petitions challenging the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Rs. 14,000-crore coastal road project, which proposes to connect Marine Drive to Borivali. A Division Bench of Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog and Justice N.M. Jamdar on June 17 had commenced hearing on petitions filed by activists, residents and fisherfolk challenging reclamation for the project.
