Rain, Thunderstorms Lash Parts of North India

Showers were reported in parts of the national capital, starting late on 26 June. Parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Rajasthan also witnessed showers, while Himachal Pradesh was hit by rain and thunderstorms, signifying the onset of monsoon, the MeT department told PTI.

An aircraft crashed in an open area in Mumbai's Ghatkopar, ANI reported. Two people have reportedly died in the crash, according to CNN News18.

The Jammu and Kashmir police today revealed the names of three suspects, including a Pakistani national, who assassinated Kashmiri journalist and Rising Kashmir editor Shujaat Bukhari. The police also said that the conspiracy to murder Bukhari was hatched in Pakistan.

Winsome Diamonds Fraud Case: CBI Charge Sheets 2 Ex-CMDs of Canara Bank

The CBI has filed a charge sheet against two former chairman cum managing directors of the Canara Bank in connection with alleged loan default of Rs 146 crore by Jatin Mehta of Winsome Diamonds and has also sought a Red Corner Notice against the billionaire jeweller. Mehta is absconding and believed to have got St Kitts passport, sources said.

“The agency has filed the charge sheet against 21 accused which includes Mehta, his company, his wife besides 15 public servants,” CBI Spokesperson Abhishek Dayal said.

Chinese Military Delegation to Shortly Visit India: Official

A Chinese military delegation will shortly visit India, as a major follow up to the informal summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping, a defence ministry spokesperson said in Beijing on Thursday, 28 June.

The delegation of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) will be headed by Major General Liu Xiaowu, Deputy Commander of China's Western military region, Defence spokesman Colonel Wu Qian said.

He said both sides were currently finalising the dates for the visit, adding that General Liu would also be visiting Pakistan.

Woman Alleges Rape in SUV in Ahmedabad, 7 Booked

A 22-year-old woman has alleged that she was abducted and raped by two men in a moving SUV in Ahmedabad three months back and was molested again by the accused on Wednesday, 27 June.

In her complaint lodged with Satellite police, the woman claimed that four unidentified persons wearing masks had abducted her from Nehrunagar area of the city in March this year, a police officer said.

The woman alleged that two of the four persons had raped her in the moving SUV and filmed the act to blackmail her, he said.

One person was killed, and two others injured after mob allegedly attacked three men suspecting them to be child-lifters, in Urabari area of Agartala, earlier on Thursday, 28 June.

Gunman Shoots into Maryland Newsroom, Kills At Least Five

A gunman fired through a glass door at a newspaper in the Maryland capital of Annapolis and sprayed the newsroom with gunfire on Thursday, killing at least five people and injuring several others, authorities said.

The suspect has been apprehended and no motive is known for the attack at the Capital Gazette newspaper, local political leaders said.

Law enforcement in Baltimore and New York City deployed protective forces to major media outlets as a precaution, authorities said.

"The shooter is in custody and is being interrogated at this time," Anne Arundel County Executive Steve Schuh told a news conference.
