Two Soldiers Killed by Militants in J&K’s Shopian District
An Army major and a jawan were gunned down by suspected militants.
An Army major and a jawan were killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district early on 3 August. Police sources said the two armed force personnel were gunned down by suspected militants. Another jawan was injured in the firing, PTI reported. Major Kamlesh Pandey, Sepoy Tanzin and Sepoy Kripal Singh were seriously injured in the attack, as per an India Today report.
According sources, as quoted by India Today:
On Wednesday night, following an intelligence tip-off, the Indian Army launched a search operation in Shopian’s Zaipora region, to hunt out militants. It was during this manhunt that militants opened fire, thus, injuring the three army men.
Gopalpora Encounter
In a separate encounter, two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists were killed in an encounter in Kulgam district’s Gopalpora, Shridhar Patil, SSP, Kulgam told ANI.
One of the militants was reportedly involved in the killing of five policemen, tweeted J&K Police.
