Fire at Mumbai’s BeauMonde Towers Tamed, No Casualties Reported

Two firemen, who were helping to douse the level-3 fire at BeauMonde Towers in Mumbai’s Worli, were admitted to the hospital after they complained of suffocation on Wednesday, 13 June. The firemen are stable after initial treatment, reported Hindustan Times.
No casualties were reported in the blaze that broke out at 2:10 pm on Wednesday. The fire was brought under control after almost six hours.
The fire reportedly originated at an apartment on the 32nd floor, vacant at the time of the incident. Around 90 people were evacuated to safety after the fire alarm went off in the multi-storey building that houses the residence and office of Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone.
According to ANI, at least 20 fire tenders, five jumbo tankers, two hydraulic platforms and ambulances were rushed to the spot at Appasaheb Marathe Marg in the Prabhadevi area.
Mumbai Police tweeted saying its staff as well as the fire brigade was on the spot for assistance.
“They are trying their best to douse the fire and provide necessary help to people there,” it added.

Padukone owns a flat on the 26th floor of the same building where the fire broke out. She was not in the building at the time of the incident, sources told The Quint.
Deepika later confirmed on Twitter that she was safe.
