Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Sandesh for Soldiers’ campaign has gained a lot of traction with famous cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli and Bollywood actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar posting video messages for the Indian Army on Twitter.

This campaign is being led to keep in mind the unnoticed struggles of the Indian Army.

The messages started pouring in well before Diwali and continued on till the day of the festival, giving our soldiers their best. Here are some of the celebratory tweets put by the who’s who of sports and politics and Bollywood.

Shah Rukh Khan tweeted out his wishes in the evening on Diwali on Sunday, while Ritiesh Deshmukh sent a video message.

Olympic medal winner Gagan Narang also sent his sincere wishes to the soldiers.

Virender Sehwag, who was one of the first ones to participate in the campaign, took a break from his usual humour, and said, "Fauj is the reason for our mauj".

The outreach of this campaign is expected to impact at least 10 million people. Virat Kohli and Joginder Sharma, too, shared Diwali messages for the Indian Army.

And so did actor Akshay Kumar and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
