Pakistan Hoists Flag Taller Than Tricolour at Wagah Border
To mark its Independence Day, Pakistan hoisted a 120 by 180 feel flag on the Wagah-Attari Border.
On its 71st Independence Day, Pakistan hoisted a 120 by 180 feel flag on the Wagah-Attari Border. The flag was installed on a 400 feet pole and was hoisted by the Pakistan Army Chief, reports The Hindu.
The ‘flag wars’ between India and Pakistan are not new. In 2016, India hoisted a flag at a height of 360 feet. In an address at the Wagah Border at midnight on 14 August, Qamar Javed Bajwa, Pakistan’s Army Chief reportedly said:
Strong winds have played spoilsport with gigantic flags in the past though, with India being forced to replace four flags last year after strong winds tore it apart. For the Independence Day celebrations this year, Indian authorities reportedly will hoist the flag at 360 feet again.
