After confirming Chinese incursion in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, Chief Minister Harish Rawat now maintains there is no need to be alarmed.

The presence of Chinese soldiers had increased in that area but I will not say it was an intrusion, because these activities were noticed only in the Chinese areas.

He had earlier assured everyone that the Chinese hadn’t yet touched an important canal in that area. He also said that he expects the central government to take cognisance of the matter.

Dekhna padega kya hai, intrusion hai ya nahi. Report mangwa ke dekhenge (We have to see if it is an intrusion or not. We have asked for a report) said Kiren Rijuju, Minister of State for Home.

Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) sent a report about the incident to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on 19 July, which is the date of incursion.
