Two Minor Girls Found Hanging in Madhya Pradesh’s Chitrakoot

The police has reportedly said that the death could be result of a “suicide pact” but an investigation is underway.

Bodies of two minor girls were found hanging from a tree in a village in Madhya Pradesh’s Chitrakoot district on Wednesday, 24 April.

According to Chitrakoot police, the cause of the death is unknown, however they said prima facie the death appear to be a case of suicide. The bodies of the two girls have been sent for post mortem.

The girls were residents of Kataiya Khadar village.

Chitrakoot SP Manoj Jha told Hindustan Times that the deaths could be a result of a “suicide pact”. He also added that the police investigation is going on and the family members of the girls have also been questioned.

According to ANI, the girls had left for the fields at around noon with ropes and were later found hanging from a tree at around 4 pm. The girls have been identified as Shiv Devi, 17 and Sarita Kumari, 16.
