An Indian soldier, reportedly identified as Manjeet Singh of the 17th Sikh Regiment, was killed in an encounter with terrorists in the Machil sector along the Line of Control on Friday night.

The soldier’s body was mutilated, and his head was reportedly carried back across the Line of Control (LoC) by the terrorists as they fled back into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, under supporting fire cover by Pakistani troops.

The incident received massive backlash from netizens, with the Twitter world seething with rage, demanding “revenge” against the perpetrators. A strong anti-Pakistan sentiment was witnessed in most of the tweets that floated around in the aftermath of the incident.

People termed it “barbaric” and a “war crime”, thus instigating many to ask for an “appropriate” response.
