A 20-year-old youth was apprehended in Hyderabad for allegedly using derogatory language for Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and the people of Telengana on TikTok, The Hindu reported on Thursday, 25 April.

The report identified the accused as Thagaram Naveen, a resident of Krishna in Andhra Pradesh.

The case, according to the police, is one that promotes enmity between the people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, since the video clips are using objectionable language.

The report quoted the police as saying that the incident occurred on 14 April when Naveen was celebrating his birthday. The police has seized two smartphones from the accused youth and a police investigation is already underway.
