The Quint’sinvestigativepiece that the Dadri killing was a result of a personal grudge rather than about beef politics has been separately corroborated, by the Minister of State of Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju.
At a workshop titled, ‘How to Counter Online Radicalisation’ in New Delhi, Rijiju said,
The Dadri incident has nothing to do with beef. It was an outcome of a conflict arising from two families. We all eat meat. Should we all go to Pakistan? I come from Arunachal Pradesh. If I eat beef, who will send me to Pakistan? The media has done a great disservice to the nation.

Rijiju’s statement raises two key questions:
If the central government is aware of the real motive behind Akhlaq’s murder, why has it not approached the UP government to hand the case over to the CBI?
Is the UP government unaware of this motive?
Meanwhile, the report received an overwhelming response from The Quint’s readers. Many have demanded a fresh inquiry. Here’s a selection of feedback on the site and on Twitter.

#seekingtruth an un-biased probe needs to be made about this fateful incident. If this is true, then we not only need to question our media on reporting a lie, but also our patience to understand the truth before sharing an opinion and a public outrage! Let us seek the truth...

If BJP with the Union Home Ministry could not get this story then it is rank incompetence. Who can help them?
