On Saturday, 19 May, a Telangana legislator’s car collided with a bike in the Jeedivagu area of the Mulugu district, killing a 3-year-old girl and severely injuring her parents, reported The News Minute. The parents were shifted to a nearby government hospital.

Congress MLA Danasari Anasuya, to whom the SUV belonged, was sitting in the car when it slammed into the bike, which was coming from the opposite direction.

The legislator, known popularly as Seethakka, later expressed regret over the accident and assured financial aid to the girl’s parents.

"This is a very disturbing accident in which a small baby became a victim. I feel sad about it. I stand by the family in this hour of grief," she was quoted as saying.

The local police have registered a case under Section 304A (Causing death by negligence) and 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC and seized the vehicle, according to The News Minute, and further investigation is ongoing.
