The bodies of four men – accused in the rape and murder of a woman veterinarian – who were killed in an alleged exchange of fire with police on 6 December, were on Tuesday, 10 December, shifted to the state-run Gandhi Hospital from Mahabubnagar district.

"The bodies of the four people were brought here and are preserved in the mortuary of Gandhi Hospital on Tuesday," a senior hospital official told PTI.

The Telangana High Court on Monday directed authorities to preserve their bodies till 13 December and ordered that the bodies can be shifted to Gandhi Hospital if the government hospital at Mahabubnagar does not have the facility to preserve them till that date.

The four accused, arrested in the case, were killed in an encounter with the Cyberabad police early morning on 6 December, when they were taken to the spot of the incident for recreation of the crime.

The high court had earlier directed the bodies of the four to be preserved till 8:00 pm on Monday.

Earlier, a complaint was filed against the Cyberabad police, alleging that the four suspects were killed in a fake encounter. The complaint was filed by D Praveen Kumar, president of NGO Nenu Saitham, at the Uppal police station.
