Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday, 1 April, gave a polite response to a man who used offensive words while complaining after not getting his passport, on Twitter, reported NDTV.

In a now-deleted tweet, the man narrated his ordeal of losing out on a career opportunity because he did not get his passport on time. Slamming the minister, the Twitter user told Swaraj that she is “not a chowkidar.

“Thanks for your compliments. My office will get in touch with you today and help you get the Passport,” Sushma replied.

Sushma Swaraj has joined the recent bandwagon of ministers who have added “Chowkidar” as a prefix to their Twitter handle.

In another similar instance, a software engineer alleged that the minister has delegated the tweets to her staff. Swaraj, who is known for her prompt replies said, “Rest assured - it's me, not my ghost.”

Last week, when a Twitter user asked her why she calls herself a “chowkidaar,” Swaraj said in a tweet, “Because I am doing ‘chowkidari'’ of Indian interests and Indian nationals abroad.”
