External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is undergoing treatment for kidney failure and is admitted at AIIMS hospital in New Delhi, she revealed on Tuesday night.

Swaraj, who was admitted in the hospital on 7 November, is likely to remain in the hospital for a few days. “Her condition is stable. Her history of chronic diabetes has affected her kidney functioning. She is on dialysis,” a source in the hospital said.

Swaraj has been admitted at the cardio-neuro centre under the supervision of Balram Airan, Chief of the Cardio Thoracic Centre.

She has been suffering from diabetes for almost 20 years now.

Concerned citizens took to Twitter to wish the minister speedy recovery.
